P4.75 milyong halaga ng ipinuslit na agricultural products, nasamsam ng BOC

Nasamsam ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) ang tinatayang P4.75 milyong halaga ng agricultural products  na ilegal na ipinuslit sa bansa at ibinibenta sa dalawang bodega sa Tondo, Manila, ayon kay BOC Deputy Commissioner for Intelligence Raniel Ramiro.

Kabilang sa nasamsam ang bulto-bultong red at yellow onions, carrots, ginger, garlic at broccoli.

“This is still in line with our mandate to protect the country’s borders against the illegal importation of goods. We’re making good our promise of strengthening border control and we’re intensifying efforts to assure the safety of these products,” pahayag ni Ramiro.

Nagsanib-puwersa ang BOC-Intelligence Group (IG) at Manila International Container Port (MICP) sa koordinasyon ng  Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) kung saan nagpanggap na buyer ang mga operatiba para mapatunayan na may ilegal na produkto.

Matapos matukoy ang market stalls sa Carmen Planas street at Bilbao street, isinilbi ng mga operatiba ang Letter of Authority (LOA) na pirmado ni Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero.

Agad na kinumpiska ang imported agricultural products matapos na hindi makapagpakita ang stall owner ng pruweba sa pagbabayad ng duties, taxes at import permit.

Isinara din ang mga market stall na inilagay sa kustodiya ng BOC habang isasagawa pa ang imbentaryo at imbestigasyon.
