Nagsagawa ng joint maritime exercise ang Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) at United States Coast Guard (USCG) sa karagatan ng Subic Bay, Zambales kahapon, August 31.
Ayon kay PCG Spokesperson, Commodore Armando A. Balilo, isinagawa ang pagsasanay kaugnay sa vessel communication, search and rescue (SAR), small boat operation, multi-vessel maneuvering at emergency response operation para sa ilang mga sitwasyon tulad ng sunog sa barko at man overboard.
Ang mga unit sa ilalim ng Task Force Pagsasanay kabilang ang BRP Gabriela Silang (OPV-8301, BRP Sindangan (MRRV-4407), BRP Capones (MRRV-4404), PCG-manned Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) vessel, BRP Lapu-Lapu (MMOV-5001), at airbus helicopter CGH-1451 ang siyang kinatawan naman ng PCG.
Ang USCG naman ay nagpadala ng kanilang USCG Cutter Munro (WMSL 755) kasama ang Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Scan Eagle.
Sumama ang mga miyembro ng PCG sa USCG na sumakay sa USCG Cutter Munro (WMSL 755) sa kanilang paglulunsad ng UAS para makatulong sa Search and Rescue ( SAR) operation.
Ang inisyatibang ito ay magsisilbing opurtunidad para sa PCG at USCG na talakayin ang best practices at pag-aralan ang bawat isa.
Ibinahagi rin ni PCG Commandant, Admiral George V. Ursabia Jr. ang matibay na partnership sa pagitan ng PCG at USCG ay naging instrumento para maisakatuparan ang modernisasyon ng armed service at ang professionalism ng mga tauhan nito sa pamamagitan ng cooperation at technical exchange programs.
“The success of the joint maritime exercise between the PCG and USCG will not only strengthen international partnerships for immediate response to calamities and disasters but will also ensure that our personnel could effectively perform their mandated functions in countering terrorism and other acts of lawlessness in our country’s waters,” ayon kay Admiral Ursabia.
