PH COAST GUARD, MAY BAGONG HEPE

Itinalaga ni Pangulong Duterte si CG Vice Admiral Leopoldo V Laroya bilang ika- 28th Commandant ng Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).

Papalitan ni Laroya si CG Admiral George V. Ursabia Jr. na magreretiro ngayong araw, September 8.

Ayon sa PCG, si CG Vice Admiral Laroya ay ipinanganak sa Quezon City kung saan nagsimula ang kanyang karera sa militar noong  1983 nang pumasok siya sa  Philippine Military Academy (PMA) at nagtapos bilang miyembro ng  “Maringal” Class of 1988.

Nakumpleto  niya ang kanyang post-graduate studies sa World Maritime University sa Malmö, Sweden at nakakuha ng degree na Masters in Maritime Safety and Environmental Protection noong 2000.

Bago siya itinalaga bilang Deputy Commandant for Operations, ipinagkatiwala sa kanya ang iba’t ibang posisyon kabilang ang Commander of the Maritime Safety Services Command; Coast Guard Education, Training and Doctrine Command at Maritime Security and Law Enforcement Command.

Nagsilbi din si Laroya bilang  District Commander ng PCG Districts sa Western Visayas, Northwestern Luzon, Southwestern Mindanao at Bicol.

“He earned the most coveted Command at Sea badge, having commanded two flagship Coast Guard search and rescue vessels (SARV) namely: BRP Batangas (SARV-004) and BRP Nueva Vizcaya (SARV-3502)” ayon sa PCG.

Ang kanyang dedikasyon sa serbisyo publiko ay nasasalamin sa pamamagitan ng kanyang mga tagumpay at mga natanggap na parangal kabilang ang  Coast Guard Legion of Honor, Bronze Cross Medal, Outstanding Achievement Medals, Superior Achievement Medals, Coast Guard SAR Medals,  Military Merit Medals at marami pang pang iba.
