Hiniling ng health frontliners ng mga pribadong ospital sa mga senador na bigyang pansin ang kalagayan ng healthcare workers matapos talakayin ang 2022 budget ng Department of Health (DOH).
Ayon kay Donell Siazon, union President ng UST Hospital at spokesperson ng Private Hospital Workers Alliance of the Philippines (PHWAP, hindi na nila maitago pa ang kanilang pagkadismaya sa mga mambabatas.
“We can longer hide our frustration with our Senators. Their non-recognition of our just and legitimate demands after what healthcare workers and the general public have been going through in this pandemic is simply unacceptable”, pahayag ni Siazon.
“We hope our senators in high esteem and after the exposure of the anomalous transactions, graft practices and negligence of the health officials, we expected them to redress our grievances by manifesting it through the 2022 budget. We are worried that next year’s budget will not correct the injustice inflicted on us,” pahayag naman ni Jess Obien ng Chinese General Hospital Employees Association.
Pinabulaanan din ni Siazon ang pahayag ng DOH na naipamahagi na ang Special Risk Allowance ng lahat ng health workers.
Dagdag pa ni Siazon na paano ang kanilang meal, accomodation, transportation at life insurance compensation na kanilang inaasahan pero hindi pa nila nakukuha hanggang ngayon.
Nanawagan din si Siazon sa mga kapwa medical frontliner na maging vigilant at igiit ang benepisyo na nararapat para sa kanila.
“Need we remind everyone that this is not merely about the appropriation funds for just compensation but the very lives of our health workers. We should not allow them to use us as mere arguments in their hearings and not benefit from it.” dagdag pa ni Siazon.
Nagbabala rin ang PHWAP na kapag hindi natugunan ang kanilang hinaing, mahihirapan pa rin ang bansa at hindi pa rin makaaahon sa krisis sa kalusugan.
Samantala, sinabi naman ng DOH na hinihintay din ng ahensya ang mga dokumento mula sa mga pribadong ospital para maibigay ang mga benepisyo ng healthcare workers.
