Muling nangulelat ang Pilipinas sa latest Covid resilience ranking ng Bloomberg.
Deretsahang sinabi ni Health Secretary Francisco Duque III na “unfair” ang report.
Lumabas na sa limampu’t-tatlong ekonomiya sa mundo, nananatiling panghuli ang Pilipinas sa resilience score — base sa takbo ng bakunahan, lockdowns, flight capacity at vaccinated travel routes.
Nangunguna naman sa ranking ang United Arab Emirates na sinusundan ng Chile, Finland, Ireland at Spain.
“You know why it’s unfair? They slice it off just where the Philippines was going to be the last. Remember there are 200 nations. I could have sliced it off at number 10 and say that is kulelat… In terms of our vaccination rate, we are improving greatly,” pagtatanggol ni Duque.
Maging si NTF Covid-19 Medical Adviser Rr. Ted Herbosa ay kinuwestyon rin ang naturang ulat.
“Talagang makukuwestiyon iyong basis and strength of their metrics, medyo problematic nga kung ating susuriin nang mas malalim,” sabi ni Herbosa.
Tinukoy naman ni acting presidential spokesperson at Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles Nograles ang Alert Level System sa bansa na naging daan para bumaba ang bilang ng mga active COVID-19 cases.
“We have to consider that the 53 countries in the report have different COVID-19 experiences and strategies. There is little consideration for country-specific COVID-19 context, which in our view is imperative to objectively assess how countries managed pandemic response,” sabi naman ni Nograles.
“On top of the positivity rate which is at 2.1% which is one of the lowest since testing data became available in April 2020 and well within the standard 5% set by the World Health Organization,” dagdag pa niya.
Bukod dito, iginiit din ni Nograles na ang 1.71% fatality rate ng bansa ay nananatiling isa sa pinakamababa sa mundo.
