Inaprubahan na ng Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) ang pagturok ng COVID-19 booster shots sa mga land-based at sea-based overseas Filipino workers na nakatakdang i-deploy, ayon kay vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr.
“IATF already decided to provide boosters to our OFWs and seafarers who are about to be deployed within 4 months,” pahayag ni Galvez.
Ayon kay Galvez, humiling ang IATF sa Food and Drug Administration (FDA) na isama ang migrant workers sa priority na tuturukan ng booster shots.
Sa ngayon, ibinibigay ng gobyerno ang booster shots sa priority sectors, kabilang ang health workers, senior citizens at mga may comorbidities.
“We may include the remaining A4, A5 and the General Population starting December or next year when we’ve reached the threshold of more than 50% [who have] received their second dose,” dagdag pa ni Galvez.
Kabilang sa A4 ang essential workers habang sa A5 naman ang indigents.
Dagdag pa ni Galvez na ibibigay ng gobyerno ang booster shot sa mga nabakunahan noong March.
“Yung July 2021 vaccines onwards, sa January na,” saad pa ng vaccine czar.
Nauna naman sinabi ng FDA na ang mga health worker o A1 category ay makakukuha ng isang booster shot ng kanit anong brand ng COVID-19 vaccine.
Nagsimula ang pagtuturok ng booster shots sa health workers nitong Miyerkules, Nov. 17.
