Tinawag na “unfair at biased” ng Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) ang ulat ng Bloomberg tungkol sa COVID-19 Resilience Ranking ng limamput-tatlong bansa.
Lumabas sa report ng Bloomberg na kulelat pa rin ang Pilipinas sa ranking na sumusukat sa pagbangon ng ekonomiya ng mga bansa mula sa COVID-19 pandemic.
Ito na ang ikalawang sunod na buwan na nasa pinakahuling pwesto ang Pilipinas na may markang 40.5, bagamat may bahagya namang pagtaas ito mula sa nakuhang marka na 40.2 noong September.
“We feel the Bloomberg resilience data is practically unfair to our country. Number 1, it doesn’t cover all countries… It’s unfair to characterize our country as lowest because we’re not lowest in the world,” sabi ni DILG Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya sa ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC).
“The countries they chose were mostly Western countries, which puts us at a disadvantage… We just started our universal healthcare. ‘Di talaga tayo tataas diyan, we’re a developing country… and the quality of life is also considered. In my opinion, it’s really a biased survey towards Western countries,” dagdag ni Malaya.

Sinabi pa ni Malaya na ang index na ginamit ay hindi rin updated.
Kabilang sa mga basehan ay vaccination coverage, virus containment, kalidad ng healthcare, progreso sa pagsisimula ng travel, at ang kabuuang mortality sa pandemiya.
“While the region’s outbreak may have peaked and vaccination has progressed, especially in Malaysia, many of these export-reliant economies are still reeling from Delta’s hit,” ayon sa Bloomberg report.
“That’s spurring these nations to chart clearer paths to reopening, though it’ll take time for them to catch up to Europe and the US,” dagdag ng ulat.
Ipinakita sa report na ang Pilipinas ang may pinakamababang score sa vaccine coverage na umabot lang sa 26 percent ng populasyon.
Nanguna sa ranking ang Ireland, Spain, United Arab Emirates, Denmark, at Finland.
Ang United States ay nasa ika-26 na pwesto, habang ika-28 naman ang Tsina.
Ayon kay Malaya, dahil sa gumagandang bilang ng mga kaso nitong mga nakaraang araw ay posibleng tumaas na ang ranking ng bansa sa susunod na buwan.
