Dumating sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport nitong Sabado, October 2, ang 889,200 doses ng COVID-19 vaccine na Pfizer.
Ayon sa National Task Force Against COVID-19, sakay ito ng flight EK332 at nagmula sa vaccine sharing facility na COVAX.
Sinalubong ang pagdating ng bakuna nina vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. at United States Agency for International Development Health Director Michelle Lang-Alli.
Gagamitin ang bahagi ng mga dumating na doses para sa pilot implementation ng pagbabakuna sa mga bata edad 12 hanggang 17.
“We will still focus on inoculating our priority groups A2 and A3, but partly itong ibang dumarating na ito will be given also to our possible children inoculation this coming October 15,” pahayag ni Galvez.
Ilalaan ng gobyerno ang nasa 60 milyon doses ng bakuna para sa pediatric group.
“Our population of adolescents and children is more or less 29 million. So we will be allocating more or less 60 million doses,” dagdag pa ni Galvez.
Nagpasalamat naman si Galvez sa United States Embassy para sa mga bakunang natanggap.
“The United States is very happy to be able to provide safe and effective vaccines not just to Manila but to the greater Philippines and the Central and Southern part of the Philippines as well,” saad pa ni Galvez.
