Nagpaabot ng pakikiisa si Queen Elizabeth II ng United Kingdom kay Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte kasunod ng iniwang pinsala ng bagyong Odette sa bansa.
“Today, Her Majesty The Queen sent President Duterte a message offering her condolences and deepest sympathies to all those affected by Odette,” ayon kay United Kingdom Ambassador to the Philippines Laure Beaufils.
“The United Kingdom stands in solidarity with the Philippines and Filipino people in the wake of this devastating typhoon,” dagdag na pahayag.
Nauna rito, inanunsyo ni Beaufils na ang British government ay nangako na magdo-donate ng £750,000 (P50 million) sa International Federation of Red Cross at Philippine Red Cross para tulungan ang mga biktima ng bagyo.
Sinabi ng National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, Miyerkules, na ang death toll mula sa bagyong Odette ay umakyat na sa 177.
Pumalo naman sa 275 ang nasaktan habang 38 ang nawawala.
Nilisan ng bagyong Odette ang Philippine Area of Responsibility noong Disyembre 18 matapos wasakin ang maraming bahagi ng Visayas, Mindanao, at Palawan.
