Ipinatupad ang total deployment ban ng Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) sa mga Filipino worker sa Ethiopia dahil sa nangyayaring kaguluhan.
Pirmado na ni Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Silvestre Bello III ang Governing Board Resolution No. 12, Series of 2021.
Iniaatas din sa nasabing board resolution na ang lahat ng concerned government agencies na bumuo ng plano para sa agarang paglilikas sa mga OFW na nasa Ethiopia.
“Now, therefore, the POEA Governing Board, in a meeting duly convened, resolves as it hereby resolved, to impose a total deployment ban to Ethiopia and directs the POEA to closely coordinate with the (Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), deploying licensed agencies, and other concerned entities on the immediate and safe repatriation of OFWs in the said country,” ayon sa resolusyon ng POEA na inilabas nitong Huwebes.
Matatandaang November 8 nang itaas ng DFA ang Crisis Alert Level sa Ethiopia sa Alert Level 4 na nangangahulugan ng sapilitang pagpapauwi sa mga Pinoy na nandoon bunsod ng away sa pagitan ng Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) at ng Ethiopian government.
