Pangulong Duterte, binatikos ang insidente sa Ayungin Shoal

“This does not speak well of the relations between our nations and our partnership.”

Ito ang pahayag ni pangulong Rodrigo Dutere matapos harangin at bombahin ng tubig ng Chinese Coast Guard ships ang supply boat ng Pilipinas na maghahatid sana ng supply sa BRP Sierra Madre na nasa Ayungin Shoal sa West Philippine Sea.

“We abhor the recent event in the Ayungin Shoal and view with grave concern other similar developments. This does not speak well of the relations between our nations and our partnership,” pahayag ni Pangulong Duterte sa ASEAN-China special summit.

Lumabas ang reaksyon ng pangulo ilang araw matapos kondenahin ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) ang insidente at halos isang linggo naman nang mangyari ang nasabing  pagharang at pambobomba ng tubig ng Chinese Coast Guard.

Matatandaang naganap ang insidente noong Martes, November 16, ayon sa ulat ng Palawan-based Western Command.

Walang nasaktan sa insidente pero, hindi natuloy ang kanilang misyon na dalhin ang supply ng mga Filipino troops  na nakatalaga sa lugar dahil nasira ang isa sa mga bangka.

Sa nasabing special summit, nabanggit ng pangulo ang United Nations Convention sa law of the Sea at ang 2016 Arbitral Award na umanoy nagbibigay ng  “legal clarity… pointing us to a just fair solution to our disputes.”

“We must fully utilize these legal tools to ensure that the South China Sea remains a sea of peace, stability and prosperity.
