Higit 1.3M doses ng Moderna vaccines, natanggap ng bansa

Natanggap ng Pilipinas ang nasa 1,353,800 doses ng Moderna COVID-19 vaccine na binili ng gobyerno.

Dumating ang shipment kaninang 9:40 ng umaga sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 na sinalubong ni vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr.

“This would be allocated for our children vaccination… second, it will be used also for boosters. We are very thankful, I would like to thank the Philippine FDA… for releasing the EUA amendment for the vaccines, including Pfizer, Sinovac, AstraZeneca, and also Sputnik,” pahayag ni Galvez.

Inirekomenda ng Department of Health na gamitin ang Moderna, Pfizer, at Sinovac bilang booster doses.

“These vaccines, like Moderna, will be for our three-day national vaccination holiday. We will wrap up most of the vaccines for the first and second dosing,” dagdag pa ni Galvez.

Sa darating na November 29 hanggang December 1 isasagawa ang three-day national vaccination campaign.

Inaasahan pa ni Galvez na darating sa bansa ang nasa 16 million doses ng bakuna, dahilan para maabot na ang 140 million doses sa katapusan ng November.

“‘Yun na yung ating naka-allocate for this year. And then ‘yung December na darating, it will be allocated for the first quarter boostering and also yung ating remaining first doses and second doses,” paliwanag pa ni Galvez.

Samantala, dumating din ang nasa 301,860 doses ng Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine na donasyon ng US government sa pamamagitan ng COVAX facility.

Ang shipment ay lulan ng Air Hong Kong flight LD45 na lumapag sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 bandang alas-10 kagabi.

Tinanggap naman ang mga bakuna nina National Task Force Against COVID-19 head of strategic communications on current operations Assistant Secretary Wilben Mayor at Department of Health director Ariel Valencia.

Kasama rin nila si USAID health director Michelle Lang-Alli at UNICEF health specialist Carla Orozco.
