Natanggap na ng Pilipinas ang halos 800,000 doses ng AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, noong Martes ng hapon, November 9.
Lumapag sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 ang nasa kabuuang 793,900 AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine doses.
Ang nasabing shipment ay ang second batch ng donasyon ng Germany sa pamamagitan ng COVAX facility.
Ito ang kumumpleto sa 1.6 million doses na donasyong bakuna ng German government sa Pilipinas.
“This will be distributed in different areas in preparation also for booster dose and third dose this coming next week,” ayon kay vaccine czar Carlito Galvez, Jr.
Sa pagtanggap sa nasabing bakuna, hinikayat din ni Galvez ang local government units na bilisan na rin ang kanilang immunization.
“We cannot slow down our vaccination, we are pushing you to vaccinate because we are racing against time. This is a race against time…While we are decreasing our cases, we cannot slow down our vaccination,” dagdag pa ni Galvez.
Umapela rin siya na mas bilisan pa ang vaccination roll out sa bawat LGU’s.
“We are really appealing for your sense of urgency, we are in the midst of the pandemic. We need to move faster,” dagdag pa ng vaccine czar.
Noong October 15, nakatanggap din ang Pilipinas ng nasa 844,800 AstraZeneca shots mula rin sa Germany.
Nagpasalamat din siya sa German government, European Union (EU), the COVAX facility at iba pang International partners para sa mga donasyong bakuna.
“Germany is very proud to be able to contribute to this effort of the Philippines to vaccinate the country in order to make everyone safe,” ayon kay German Ambassador to the Philippines Anke Reiffenstuel.
Sa kasalukuyan, umabot na sa 114,245,400 doses ng procured at donated COVID-19 vaccine doses ang nai-deliver na sa Pilipinas.
